The Mission

The Black Student Union (BSU) is a campus-based community service organization that focuses on the improvement of campus life for all students of African descent. Black Student Union is dedicated to leadership development, community service and academic excellence. Members are involved in the diverse aspects of the university and local community. From large cultural, social, and educational events to tutoring our youth, the Black Student Union creates an environment for the black student at UIC to develop into a well-rounded, engaged, analytical and productive individual.

As members, there are many benefits, most of which are priceless; meeting new people, opening new doors and becoming a more active member of your community are only what can be seen on the surface. So, we encourage you to attend our meetings and our events.
