The Black
Student Union seeks to foster a better understanding of what it means
to be Black in the membership, campus, and community.
The Black
Book Club - "Nija"
Nija is open to all to attend. Meetings are held each week in the African
American Cultural Center from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Each week members of
the Nija group read from selected reading and come prepared to discuss
the theoretical and practical implications of the readings.
Community
Work - Academic Credit
The BSU in conjunction with the Institute for Reseach on Race &
Public Policy have developed a course in community development and leadership.
Student recieve academic credit for community work and selected readings
on community development and leadership development.
Mojos'
Pen
Mojos Pen is a open-mic venue where people from the campus and community
are welcome to come share and recieve thoughtful spoken word poetry.
The host of the event is David Stovall a memeber of the College of Education
faculty. His specialization is in Critical Race Theory and Educational
Policy. Between the poets and the commentary critical learning is enevitable.
